NVIDIA's Investment Dual Tentacles: NVentures Locks Star Startups into the Computing Empire

As the global tech community focuses on NVIDIA's (Nvidia) multi-billion, even trillion-dollar GPU deals, a recent disclosure from the UK Companies House reveals its largest bet in the digital finance sector to date.
The document shows that NVIDIA's venture capital arm, NVentures, holds 141,834 shares in the European digital bank Revolut, with a stake valued at nearly $196 million.
NVIDIA's investment in the digital bank not only showcases its multi-sector layout beyond semiconductors but also brings NVentures, which has previously operated in the shadows, into the public eye. Since its establishment in 2021, NVentures has been weaving a vast capital network across cutting-edge technology sectors with a strategy distinct from traditional corporate venture capital (CVC).
"Dual Pillar" Capital Structure: Industrial Investment Strengthens Computing Dominance, NVentures Positions at the Tech Frontier
In the narrative of Silicon Valley capital, external investments by NVIDIA are often broadly attributed to the will of the parent company. However, it is less known that NVIDIA has long established a clearly defined and highly complementary "dual pillar investment system": the Corporate Development department and the venture capital arm NVentures operate in parallel, together forming NVIDIA's capital landscape.
The Corporate Development department focuses on massive equity investments and industrial mergers and acquisitions, led by Vishal Bhagwati. According to CNBC, this department has spearheaded investments exceeding $40 billion in just the first four months of this year. Representative cases include a $30 billion framework investment in OpenAI, a $10 billion injection into Anthropic, and a $2 billion equity investment in Elon Musk's xAI, each a significant move capable of shaking the industry.
The primary goal of the Corporate Development department is to deeply bind cornerstone model companies with cloud service giants, securing future GPU procurement agreements and solidifying NVIDIA's long-term foundation. Its essence is to "build walls," using billions of dollars to fortify NVIDIA's computing dominance and stabilize its leading position.
In stark contrast, NVentures is positioned as a strategic venture capital entity, focusing on identifying early and growth-stage targets in the hard tech sector. Led by NVIDIA's Vice President and head of venture capital, Mohamed Siddeek, his career has witnessed NVIDIA's growth: during his tenure at Morgan Stanley in the late 1990s, he personally accompanied Jensen Huang on NVIDIA's IPO roadshow; subsequently, he led TMT (Technology, Media, Telecommunications) and digital health venture capital at top investment institutions like the Mubadala Sovereign Wealth Fund and SoftBank Vision Fund.
Under Siddeek's leadership, NVentures has been actively competing with top-tier venture capital in Silicon Valley.
As of mid-2026, NVentures has invested in 96 startups, incubating 20 unicorns; in the past 12 months alone, it completed 43 new investments, with the number of transactions skyrocketing over 900% year-on-year. Most of its single investments range from millions to hundreds of millions of dollars, with over 85% of transactions participating in follow-on investments.
NVentures does not seek control but rather aims for "connections," extending NVIDIA's reach into cutting-edge technology territories yet to be touched by the semiconductor industry, positioning itself lightly as a "rule-maker" in vertical industries.
NVentures Expands into Five Major Tracks, Broadening the Boundaries of Computing Ecology
Siddeek has publicly stated that NVentures' investment boundaries "essentially cover any area that NVIDIA's hardware and software can reach." Translated, this means: wherever computing power is needed in the future, NVIDIA's flag must be planted in advance.
AI Infrastructure: Reinforcing the Invisible Wall of CUDA
Strengthening the technical barriers of the CUDA ecosystem is NVentures' most fundamental and crucial mission. The AI automated code review tool CodeRabbit not only received investment from NVentures but was also promoted across NVIDIA's entire company. It deeply integrates with NVIDIA's Nemotron open model, significantly enhancing the review efficiency of enterprise-level code, becoming a typical example of the CUDA ecosystem's implementation.
In addition, the retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) middleware developed by Contextual AI has helped enterprises achieve localized RAG deployment of proprietary data while ensuring data security. From video generation platform Synthesia, AI music platform Suno, to multimodal world model developer Runway, and its recent investment in AI inference infrastructure startup Tensormesh in May, NVentures is reshaping the computing ecology from the ground up on the creative and inference sides.
Robotics and Embodied Intelligence: Closing the Loop of AI in the Physical World
With investments in embodied intelligence companies like Skild AI, Bedrock Robotics, and Flexion Robotics, NVIDIA's ambitions in the robotics field have long surpassed mere hardware sales.
For instance, Skild AI is developing a general-purpose robotic foundation model that can control different hardware and adapt to complex environments through physical simulation training without targeted adaptation. NVIDIA provides the computing power and underlying simulation development platforms like Isaac and Omniverse. This means that NVIDIA begins defining the "brain" of robots from the R&D stage. This is a form of "gene implantation" investment. By the time robots enter mass production, they will have already been trained by NVIDIA.
Combining autonomous driving trucks like Waabi and logistics automation company Outrider, NVIDIA is attempting to penetrate its software ecosystem before hardware standards for robotics are established.
Healthcare and Digital Biology: The Highest Proportion of Heavy Investments
Digital biology is the sector with the most investments from NVentures, accounting for over one-fifth. NVIDIA views "AI + biology" as the "next transistor-level computing revolution" after semiconductors, which will also become the most important high-value computing scenario for GPUs beyond large model training.
For example, Abridge focuses on voice AI input for medical clinical documentation, freeing doctors from the tedious task of case documentation; Basecamp Research is developing the EDEN biological model for gene engineering using NVIDIA's BioNeMo platform; by investing in drug development companies like Generate Biomedicines, NVIDIA is gradually "coding" life sciences, opening up a new high-value computing market that departs from traditional large model training.
If future drug development no longer relies on test tubes but instead uses GPUs for simulation calculations, NVIDIA will capture the largest slice of the global pharmaceutical R&D budget.
Cutting-edge Computing and Quantum Technology: Positioning as a Computing Hub Post-Silicon Era
The hybrid architecture of classical and quantum computing is becoming the evolution direction for the next generation of supercomputers. NVentures' investments in the quantum field carry a strong defensive attribute: French quantum computing startup Alice & Bob and Silicon Valley quantum computing pioneer PsiQuantum are among its investments.
Quantum computing cannot replace traditional silicon-based chips in the short term, but it has already shown potential in specific large-scale scientific computing scenarios. By investing in quantum computing companies, NVIDIA is promoting the development of hybrid architectures that combine classical GPU computing power with quantum control systems, aiming to ensure that even as we enter a post-silicon computing era, NVIDIA will still occupy a central position in computing power scheduling.
Green Energy and Grid Scheduling: Breaking the Physical Ceiling of Computing Power Expansion
Today, the constraints on global data centers have fundamentally changed: electricity supply has replaced hardware capacity and land resources as the ultimate bottleneck for computing power expansion.
In this context, NVentures has invested in energy coordination management platforms like Emerald AI. Emerald AI can assist NVIDIA's "AI Factories" in safely and quickly connecting to existing power grids and flexibly scheduling local energy storage and backup generators during peak electricity usage, transforming high-energy-consuming computing clusters into "flexible assets" that are friendly to the power grid. Additionally, with investments in fusion research companies like Commonwealth Fusion and battery recycling and storage giants like Redwood Materials, NVIDIA is personally building an energy barrier for its unfulfilled computing empire.
The recent $196 million investment in Revolut signifies that NVentures has officially extended its reach into the fintech sector. As a digital bank with tens of millions of users and vast data, Revolut is not only a potential customer for NVIDIA but also its large user base and data resources will serve as a foothold for NVIDIA to explore the financial sector. By betting on Revolut through NVentures, NVIDIA is essentially making a strategic deployment for the "AI + digital finance" application scenario.
NVIDIA's "All-in-One" Fortress: Not Just Money, But Also "Locking In"
What attracts invested companies to NVentures is not just its money but the "empowerment premium" it provides.
Ordinary VCs wait for an exit after providing funds, but NVentures brings along the "NVIDIA all-in-one package": access to top engineering teams, priority integration rights for development platforms, and even access to global distribution channels. The CEO of CodeRabbit has publicly stated that NVIDIA's engineers helped them embed the Nemotron model into their products, which was then promoted internally across the company, directly gaining endorsement from Fortune 500-level companies.
All empowerment is deeply tied to NVIDIA's CUDA software ecosystem. Whether using Nemotron or BioNeMo, whether simulating robots on Isaac or building digital twins based on Omniverse, the underlying computing architecture is invariably locked within NVIDIA's technical system.
As NVentures' reach covers the upstream and downstream of the industry chain, many companies have become accustomed to building their technology stacks within the NVIDIA ecosystem from their inception. If in the future, competitors like AMD or Google offer better cost-performance ratios, they will face exorbitant migration costs and risks of ecological disconnection.
While for invested companies, NVentures' funding is a ticket to enter the world's largest AI ecosystem, the flip side of the coin is that binding with NVIDIA also means a high dependency on a single supplier. It can be said that NVentures has firmly welded them onto NVIDIA's war chariot with its venture capital, becoming "ecological nodes" scattered across various vertical industries.
In the long run, this may not only weaken the market's motivation to explore alternative computing solutions but also reinforce a monopolistic market structure.
NVIDIA is no longer just the "shovel seller" of the AI era. From the latest investment in Revolut to its capital landscape spanning cutting-edge technology industries, NVentures' growth trajectory is both a reflection of NVIDIA's continuous expansion and a key lever for NVIDIA to convert its technological advantages into industrial control.
In the future, at every critical turning point of new industries, NVentures' presence may be felt. And NVIDIA's shadowy tentacles are rewriting the power map of the global tech field with capital as ink.
