The American Arbitration Association (AAA) has launched a Web3 arbitration group focused on disputes related to smart contracts, blockchain, digital assets, tokenization, and decentralized systems. AAA's Chief Human Resources Officer Eric Dill stated that as emerging technologies integrate into business operations, parties need a dispute resolution process that incorporates trustworthy management and technical expertise. The initial members of this group include Kabir Duggal, partner at Akin Gump law firm; David L. Evans, legal advisor at Murphy & King; David A. Hoffman, professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School; Paula Pendley, partner at Nelson Mullins law firm; and Rich Widmann, global head of Web3 strategy at Google Cloud, bringing experience from legal, technical, academic, and digital asset business dispute fields. AAA will continue to expand this specialized group in response to the evolving legal, technical, and commercial issues related to the Web3 ecosystem.
